About some Indian subcultures

The Indian culture is the set of its beliefs, religions, millenarian customs, gastronomy, diversity of languages and dialects or cultural ceremonies of all kinds.
Anthropologists and sociologists agree that the culture of Indian civilization is the consequence of an imposing union of subcultures scattered throughout the Indian subcontinent.
For this reason it is important to recognize some of the subcultures that are immersed in this wonderful country.

CHRISTIANS
Although Christianity is the third religion of this country, with almost 27.8 million faithful, Christians constitute a minority representing 2.3% of the total population of India.

SADHU
Unlike other cultures, in India special attention and veneration has been given to those people who dedicate their lives to knowledge and contemplation. That is why the sadhu are so respected and admired. They are monks who follow the path of penance and austerity to obtain enlightenment and happiness.
The sadhu tradition consists in renouncing all the bonds that bind them to the earthly or material in the search for the true values of life. Sadhus tend to be nomads and pilgrims, scour the country in search of sacred places and religious festivals, and rarely spend much time in one place. They are strict vegetarians, do not drink alcohol, practice chastity and renounce any kind of material pleasure.

HIJRAS

Hijras (translated into English as "eunuch" or "hermaphrodite") are officially recognized as the third genus in the Indian subcontinent, which is not masculine or feminine, but a genus "X".
Usually, hijras live in special communities that are headed by a guru.
